When is the best time to brush your teeth? How long should you brush and how often?
The Australian Dental Association recommends to following:
- Brush your teeth twice a day – after breakfast and preferably before going to sleep at night.
- Brush for approximately 2 minutes each time
- Wait up to 30 minutes after eating acidic foods such as fruit or juice before cleaning your teeth. The acid can wear away the tooth enamel and the delay till cleaning allows time for the teeth enamel to remineralise and rebuild. While waiting you can help this remineralisation process by rinsing your mouth with or drinking water after consuming the acidic foods.
