Porcelain Veneers

What is a porcelain veneer?

A porcelain veneer is a thin, semi-translucent porcelain coating or shell, permanently bonded to your tooth to improve the appearance of discoloured, damaged or chipped teeth.

What is involved in the procedure?

A small amount of tooth structure is removed to allow enough space for the new veneer to look and feel like a natural tooth and to create a surface suitable for bonding to occur. An impression is taken of the tooth to ensure the porcelain veneer fits over the tooth perfectly and thus bonds well to the host tooth. The porcelain and the cement used in the cementing process are strong, making porcelain veneers comparable in strength to normal teeth.

We take great care to ensure the new veneer matches the look of the surrounding teeth, giving you a seamless smile.

How long does the procedure take?

To complete a porcelain veneer procedure usually takes 2 to 3 dental visits; with good home care your new porcelain veneer can last several years, contributing to your bright smile.

Who can have porcelain veneers?

You should have healthy gums and healthy teeth before considering getting porcelain veneers, to allow the dentist to get the best possible fit of the veneer to your gum-line and teeth.
